From “girl power” to “full power”…

I started playing soccer when I was 8 years-old.  I loved the feeling of “girl power,“ showing the world that girls can be strong, tough, and win games just like the boys.  This path allowed me to cultivate the identity of a champion through the masculine lense of success as my maiden self,  Jill Oakes.  This world of competition, drive, focus, discipline, hard work, and strategy earned me a lot of recognition:

• Under-19 FIFA WORLD CUP CHAMPION (2002) with the US National team
• #1 college recruit in the country 
• Gatorade National High school Soccer player of the year  (alongside Lebron James for basketball)
• UCLA ALL-AMERICAN
• #3 draft pick in the inaugural season of the Women’s Pro soccer league (WPS) in 2009

But after my last pro soccer season in 2009, a knee injury had developed into a painfully unsustainable osteoarthritic condition.  But I still intended to keep going.  While I was sorting things out, I decided to do something I’d been wanting to do for years, and that was to get a yoga teacher certification.  So I did.  Soon after, I got engaged and, unexpectedly, I then got pregnant.  

I was being redirected to a new path.  

Nine months later, I had a beautiful home birth…. and an extraordinary FEMININE AWAKENING.  My body had grown and birthed a human life!  It was the most awe-inspiring and proudest accomplishment of my life.  No achievement in soccer would ever compare.  And all I needed to do was get out of my own way because my body knew what to do.  I had to trust and surrender to the innate wisdom and the brilliance of nature that operated inside me.

My previous “girl power” belief that ‘girls can do anything that boys can do’ transformed into complete REVERENCE for womanhood.  And it has nothing to do with comparing ourselves to men.  

I realized women are in a league of our own as divine beings that keep the human race going.  Our depth of power reaches no limit. We are Mother Nature herself.  And I was frustrated that society seemed to view feminine traits as weaknesses or flaws, such as emotion, intuition and menstruation, when in actuality, they are all superpowers!!  I had be given a message for all of womankind: to remember our value and deepest power as women.

That was where I became a torch carrier of the divine feminine.

Never would I ever allow a woman to believe she is anything less than a GODDESS, a sacred and sovereign being with her own unique brilliance. I would seek to eradicate shame and support women through their toughest & most transformative moments, so they are never alone & always connected to their power!

I dove into the next chapter without soccer and without hesitation or regret.  I focused on family, motherhood, & teaching yoga while we travelled the world, supporting my husband’s professional basketball career. Meanwhile, I cultivated expansive levels of feminine wisdom as a mother, birth doula, sacred women’s circle leader, homeschooler and most recently, as a life coach. 

My mission is to EMPOWER WOMEN.

As a champion, I discovered a path to greatness and success.  As a goddess, I discovered a path of self worth and fulfillment. And now, I integrate all of it together to support you to be the FULLY EMPOWERED version of you!
